I have two cats, and all sorts of fun ways to entertain them, but they still scratch stuff, especially carpets. Most of the time it's because they want to get into a room with a closed door. Leave it to Britain, declawing is barbaric but allowing children to die because it's too expensive to try to help them is perfectly acceptable. Omg, thank you for not just giving away your cat or declawing it because I'm literally in the same boat I won't be getting another cat again but I won't declaw it or give it away I just won't have nice furniture for a while. And that is the exact right choice. You did right by the ones you had and knew you didn’t want to commit to more. People who don’t want to deal with cat behavior shouldn’t get cats. I wish more people understood this.
