When I got scratched or bite as a child, my parents didn't blame the animals. My parents whooped my ass because my parents raised me to have respect. You mess with an animal it's going to mess with you. I learned real quick you be gentle and don't poke and prod or pull and everyone gets along just fine. We have respect for animals and their space here. I've rescued viscous, abused and feral animals. I have not to bite or scratched once because I was raised to have respect and that includes not taking away cats only means of self-defense especially if that is going to lead to painful health problems later in life.
