I will never declaw my cats. They have their own cat tree to scratch. Keep them trimmed. Never had a problem. My mom declawed our cats. When she brought them home one of them jumped out of the box, and the pressure from hitting the floor after he jumped out caused his paws to squirt blood all over the walls. I absolutely refused to declaw my cat even though my parents had our two cats declawed when I was a baby. My mom and I just clip her claws. That way, she still has them but can't hurt anybody on accident as she tends to do when her claws get too long and she wants to play. She doesn't scratch furniture because she was trained not to and has plenty of places she is allowed to scratch. I just see no need to declaw a cat in the first place. If you’re so worried about your furniture being clawed, they make cat claw caps.
