They love homemade toys and scratchers more than store bought. I suggest owners try it. Make a shoelace a toy. Same thing as the stick with strings you buy off your local pet store. You cat cut a shoelace up. Cut 2-inch strands and tie them up together or sow them together. Loosen up all the ends so it becomes fluffy. No doubt this is cruel and I'd never had this done to any of my cats; however, I will adopt a cat who has been declawed. I have before. Never any litter box issues and he never bit me or anyone. The declawing did not affect him psychologically either. Please don't let the negativity of this video keep you from adopting a declawed cat. They still make wonderful pets. I never had my cats being declawed. My fear is that in case a cat lands living on the street for any reason (for example- something will happen to me ), it would be completely defenseless and not being to get food. For those who declaw cats, I would suggest looking for another type of pet, one without claws.
