I think the reason your comment was off-putting was that it sounded like you were projecting your experience onto these kids (maybe it was your use of caps and exclamation marks) as opposed to just mentioning what our own experience was without judgment of them. Anyway, I truly hope that as an adult, u now feel free to cry when u need to. Your childhood must have fucking sucked if you weren't allowed to express emotion at all. And now you're bitching about it with someone else's kids who weren't even slightly irrational about how that acted. There was no screaming, or anything indicating a tantrum. They were disappointed. If they need to climb up trees they can, but then again, I’ve never seen a cat in constant pain because of Being de-clawed. I think that if you get it done by a vet with experience and with a passion for these animals, they’ll do it in a way that hurts them the least in terms of long-term health.  A friend told me the story of someone they knew who had to make a decision whether or not to declaw their cat or give them antibiotics for the rest of their cat's life because it had some kind of

The store clerk said I should consider declawing as she did on her cat. I said no it's very cruel and damaging operation on cats. Her response was "oh I found a very good vet to do it for mine".
