Neutering your pet actually increases their health on average, prevents pet overpopulation, and doesn't cause chronic pain.I've had cats all my life, get them a scratching post and once in a while I rub catnip all over the post and my cats go nuts, they never scratch up my furniture. Sunflower I’m blunt because God rolled me that way shirt. So they get the idea that this is their thing to scratch up, and it's fun for me to watch my cats get high lol Remember to replace your scratching posts once they scratch it to hell or else they will come after your furniture. Cats don't need to be declawed because they use scratching posts (or your furniture) to file their nails. Please please don't get a bird, cat, dog, sheep, whatever without reading up on the care and being willing to do extra to make another life comfortable. Sunflower I’m blunt because God rolled me that way shirt. Cats like to scratch. Get them something they are allowed to scratch and they won't damage furniture. My cat is not declawed, our furniture is fine, and we only spent $5 on a scratching pad that we replace about every 3 months or so when it gets worn out. None of my cats have scratched up the furniture, because we've given them scratching posts and trained them away from the human furniture and onto the cat 'furniture'. Cats are smart, responsive and trainable - no need to declaw at all.

If you don't want to deal with shredded furniture don't get a fucking cat. I have 2 cats and I'd rather shredded furniture and lost money than to mutilate a creature out of convenience. Love it... "Don't get a cat" is the pervasive solution. With the overpopulation of cats that just means more cats will be put down. So which is the more "humane" answer? Declawing a cat so more humans can live with them or killing the cat because there aren't enough humans willing to live with scratches everywhere? How about you just don’t own a cat considering you will amputate their fingers for your own convenience. Instead of purchasing $13 nail covers. Jackass.
