I initially was afraid of him and let him stay in the spare bedroom. The first day I picked him up, he wrapped his paws around my neck and wouldn't let go. My Leah was like this if I ever picked her up she would attack me took about 4 months off slow work but now I can pick her up and stroke up she's still independent n doesn't like being picked up much but it's about knowing your cat's limits too. My cat was put into the street to fend for himself somewhere between 8-10 weeks. I don’t think his mother had a chance to teach him manners, so I’m trying to fill in, but he’s 4 now and he still doesn’t understand about biting. Ouch!

Mary - That’s a tough one! Your cat sounds like he was semi-feral. I suspect that our mother cats didn’t teach our babies about biting, so it’s up to us to find a way to let them know biting is unacceptable. What I do, because my cat routinely drew blood when he bit, gives him a timeout. I put him in the bathroom for 10-15 minutes. It calms him down. At the moment he is nipping, rather than biting hard, so I’ve made progress. Good luck with your baby. My baby doesn't really bite hard now she has been put in carrier for a timeout she loves to chew on things cattle it in her mouth like a dog she will steal small thing from dresser or where ever she sees something she wants she will hide what she steals she has toys she will hide them she is my baby girl loves her bad self

If they need to climb up trees they can, but then again, I’ve never seen a cat in constant pain because of Being de-clawed.
